Women’s Cross Country Finishes Seventh in OVC

OXFORD, Ala. – SIUE women's cross country capped their season with a seventh place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

"We had a lot of PRs and improved a spot from last year," said Head Coach Eileen McAllister. "They got out fast, but there was still a minor separation between them."

Six Cougars recorded personal bests in the race, including top runner Kirby Hale. Hale in 21st place. Her time of 18 minutes, 19.17 puts her 14th all-time at SIUE.

Finishing second for the Cougars was Conradette King in 34th place with a time of 18:37.03. Rounding out the top five for SIUE was Haley Miller (18.58.84), Haley Briggs (19:11.40), and Jess Clarke (19:14.96). Each top five runner recorded their personal best 5K time.

Miller and Clarke moved up on the all-time SIUE freshmen 5K list. Miller moves to 10th and Clarke moves to 18th.

Sophomore Erin Kennedy also recorded a personal best during the race with a time of 20:13.56.

"We return everybody next year and they'll continue to learn and improve," said McAllister. "They have to have the confidence and believe in what they're doing."

Finishing ahead of the Cougars were Eastern Kentucky (19), Eastern Illinois (78), Belmont (86), Southeast Missouri (95), Murray State (144), and Morehead State (154). SIUE recorded 191 points.
