PEORIA, Ill. – SIUE women's cross country finished 26th at the Bradley Pink Classic to finish their last race before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.
All top five runners for the Cougars recorded personal bests.
"Any time you walk away with a majority of the team running a PR, that's definitely a positive," said Head Coach Eileen McAllister.
Leading the Cougars for the first time this season was Kirby Hale. Hale ran the 6K in 22:42.1, moving her to 9th all-time on the SIUE women's 6K list. Hale crossed the finish line in 78th place.
Conradette King also broke the all-time list at SIUE, moving up to 14th with her time of 23:09.4. King finished 126th overall.
"We did a good job of executing our main strategy this week, which was getting out faster," said McAllister.
The third and fourth place runners were freshmen Haley Miller and Jess Clarke. Both freshmen entered the SIUE all-time freshman list for the first time. Miller's time of 23:43.1 places her as the 11th best freshman 6K at SIUE. Clarke's time was 23:43.9, placing her 12th on the list. Miller and Clarke finished 172nd and 173rd, respectively.
Sophomore Erin Kennedy rounded out the top five with a time of 23:51.4, crossing the finish line in 178th place.
"We are progressing, and that is always the goal," said McAllister.
