EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's and women's cross country competes Friday at the Bradley Pink Classic.
"We definitely have some things that we still need to work out before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship," said Head Coach Eileen McAllister. "I really just want to see them go out there and be on the same page, competing at the same level, with the same intensity."
The women's race begins at 4:25 p.m., and the men's race begins at 5:05 p.m. at Newman Golf Course.
The course is also the site of the 2014 NCAA Midwest Regional.
So far this season, SIUE has been very successful on its home course, but McAllister doesn't feel as though the race away from SIUE will negatively impact the runners.
"Bradley is relatively close, and they'll have a lot of parents and friends at the race," said McAllister. "They are familiar with the course and know the competition, so it definitely has a home element."
Three different runners have led for the men's team this year (Clint Kliem, Nick Moore, and Scott Woodard), while two different runners have been frontrunners for the women's team (Conradette King and Haley Briggs).
"There are a lot of people running well right now so it's hard to pick just one of them out," said McAllister. "I'm excited to see who gets out there and mixes it up and who can perform well in the big meet environment."
Last season, 29 total men's teams and 24 total women's teams competed in the event.
