Women’s Cross Country Takes Win in First Home Race

EDWARSDVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's cross country claims its first win of the year in the Cross Country Challenge 5K event.

Junior Haley Briggs was the top runner for the Cougars, finishing in third with a time of 19:23.1. Following Briggs was junior Kirby Hale (19:30.8) and junior Conradette King (19:35.2), finishing in fourth and fifth, respectively.

"The fans were really fantastic and do impact our performance," said Head Coach Eileen McAllister.

Freshmen Haley Miller (19:38.2) and Jess Clarke (19:43.7) rounded out the top five, finishing in sixth and seventh, respectively.

"We still have bigger things to accomplish, and it's exciting," said McAllister.

The Cougars race again Sat. Sept 27 at the Roy Griak Invitational.
