SIUE Cougar Classic
FOUR OF FOUR: This will be the last tournament the Cougars will compete in this season. They currently have a record of 5-4 and are coming off an 0-3 weekend at Tulsa. The Cougars were tournament champs at the Saluki Bash, where they went 3-0.
JUST THE BEGINNING: The Cougars will play Central Arkansas and Presbyterian for the first time.
SERIES STUFF: This will be the 14th time SIUE and Purdue-Ft. Wayne have met. Purdue-Ft. Wayne currently leads the series 2-11. The most recent meeting between these two teams was on August 26, 2017 where SIUE pulled away with a 3-1 victory.
ALL-TOURNAMENT: Rachel McDonald made the All-Tournament this past weekend for her efforts in the Tulsa Invitational. She ended the weekend with 29 kills and 31 digs.
HOME SCHEDULE: The Cougars will play 11 home matches this season including eight Ohio Valley Conference matches against Austin Peay, Murray State, Eastern Illinois, Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech, Belmont, Southeast Missouri and UT Martin.
HIGHTLIGHTING THE COUGARS: Rachel McDonald currently leads the team in kills with 92. Behind her is Hope Everett with 62 and Dylynn Otte with 52. Defensively for the Cogars, Annie Ellis leads the team in blocks with 34. Everett and Fields also assisted the team defensively by recording 27 blocks each.
ACE ACE ACE: Mallory Nicholson leads the team in aces with 13 and also leads the the team in assists with 162. The Cougars currently have 54 aces on the season which has earned them a third place ranking in the OVC. Other players that have contributed to this number include Kiana Fields, McDonald and Otte who each have 9 aces on the season.
HEAD COACH KENDALL PAULUS: Coach Paulus is in her third season as SIUE's head volleyball coach. She currently has an overall coaching record of 37-31, with a record of 21-11 in the OVC.
