LAST TIME OUT: SIUE dropped a four-set match at Austin Peay, winning set two 28-26. Dylynn Otte led the Cougars with 16 kills and 16 digs.
NATIONALLY-RANKED: SIUE is 30th in the nation in digs per set with 17.19. The Cougars are third in the OVC in that statistical category.
ACES: Mallory Nicholson and Rachel McDonald are tied for the team lead in service aces with 19.
BALANCED OFFENSE: SIUE has five players with 100 or more kills this season, led by 180 from McDonald.
PREVIEWING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Tennessee Tech is on a three-match losing streak after falling to Southeast Missouri in five sets last Saturday. Ali Verzani leads TTU with 2.81 kills per set. Susie Jeziorowski runs the offense with 9.99 assists per set.
PREVIEWING THE GAMECOCKS: Jacksonville State holds a three-match winning streak heading into the weekend having won each of those matches in four sets. Lena Kindermann, the reigning OVC Newcomer of the Week, paces the Gamecocks with 3.04 kills per set and a .304 hitting percentage. 
LEADING THE LEAGUE: After six conference matches, SIUE is No. 1 in the OVC in service aces per set (1.43) and assists per set (14.19) as well as No. 2 in digs per set (19.38).
TOP HITTERS: SIUE remains among the OVC leaders (OVC matches only) in hitting percentage at .236. Individually, Ellen LeMasters is fourth (.317) and Annie Ellis is seventh (.312).
MORE ACES: In OVC-only matches, McDonald leads the league in service aces per set (0.48) while Jordyn Klein is fourth (0.40).
AROUND THE COUNTRY: SIUE has players on the roster from nine states: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Texas.
HALL OF FAME: Former SIUE All-American Heather (Bonde) Ohlau (2002-05) will be inducted Oct. 13 into the SIUE Athletics Hall of Fame. Bonde is No. 1 all-time at SIUE in hitting percentage at .324 and was an All-American in both 2004 and 2005.
HEAD COACH KENDALL PAULUS: Coach Paulus is in her second season as head coach and eighth season at SIUE, having previously worked as an assistant coach. Paulus broke the school record for wins by a first-year head coach with 23.
