EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Heather Bonde's 16 kills led Southern Illinois University Edwardsville over McKendree 30-32, 30-20, 30-21, and 30-15 in volleyball action on Tuesday night. Bonde leads the team with 70 kills and needs nine more to become the fifth memeber of the 1,000 kill club at SIUE. After stumbling in game one hitting just .133, the Cougars would bounce back with a .290 hitting percentage for the rest of the match. SIUE finished off the Bearcats with 15 kills, one error, and a .400 hitting percentage in the final game. The Cougars hit .235 for the match. Allison Buss continued to star from her libero postion with 27 digs rising her season average to 5.75. Buss now needs 62 kills to break the school record for digs in a career. Setters Krystal Majernik and Mallory Clements combined for 48 assists, and Majernik notched 17 digs. Junior Jamie Jones recorded nine kills on 15 attacks for a .533 hitting percentage. SIUE continues its homestand with the Cougar Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Vadalabene Center. The Cougars battle Alderson Broaddus and 11th-ranked Northern Michigan on Friday, then facing Missouri Southern and second-ranked Truman State on Saturday. -siue cougars- |
