White Wins Second Straight OVC Heptathlon Championship

COOKEVILLE, Tn. – For the second straight season, SIUE's Lauren White has won the Ohio Valley Conference outdoor heptathlon championship.

White caps off her tremendous SIUE career by breaking the school heptathlon record. She recorded 5,383 points in the event, breaking the school record by 357 points.

"It's a great feeling," White said. "I want to thank all my teammates and coaches, they're really the ones who got me here and I want to give them a lot of credit."  

During the event, she placed first in the shot put (41 feet, 10.75 inches), 200m (24.60 seconds), long jump (19-0.75) and javelin (127-0)

White also finished eighth in the open javelin, picking up a team point. She is set to participate in the open shot put Saturday.
