Women’s Tennis Blanks Green Bay, 7-0

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team defeated Green Bay 7-0 Sunday at the Edwardsville Y.

The Cougars improve to 3-3 on the year while the Phoenix fall to 1-4.

SIUE won the doubles point after winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. The Cougars took the No. 2 doubles match with Callaghan Adams and Maria Thibault defeating Tallie Piaskowski and Theresa Tebon, 7-5.

In No. 3 doubles, SIUE's Alina Munteanu and Nicole Gomez defeated Monika Gredzinski and Kimberley Kaome, 6-2. The duo of Munteanu and Gomez are 4-2 in No.3 doubles this season.

The Cougars swept singles play, winning all six matches.

In No. 1 singes, Munteanu defeated Tiana Glazebrook 6-0, 6-1. Munteanu is now 4-2 in No. 1 singles play. In No. 2 doubles, SIUE's Lara Tupper defeated Yasmin Glazebrook, 6-4, 7-6. Tupper now has a 4-1 record for the Cougars in No. 2 singles.

Gomez defeated Kaome, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 3 singles match. Gomez improves to 4-2 in No. 3 singles play.

In the remaining singles matches, SIUE's (No. 4) Raillane Kamdem defeated Theresa Tebon, 6-3, 6-2, (No. 5) Adams defeated Piaskowski, 6-4, 6-1, and (No. 6) Link defeated Gredzinski, 3-6, 7-5, 10-2.

SIUE will travel to face UIC (Feb. 16) and Bradley (Feb. 17) next weekend in Peoria, Illinois.
