Previously: SIUE downed Chicago State 4-3 in its season opening match Monday. Lara Tupper and Ann-Christine Link won the No. 1 doubles match for SIUE. Alina Munteanu (No. 1), Tupper (No. 2), Callaghan Adams (No. 5) and Link (No. 6) all won their singles matches for SIUE.

Fresh Faces: Head Coach Adam Albertsen is in his first year at the helm at SIUE. The Cougars also have four newcomers in Nicole Gomez, Munteanu, Janvi Patel and Maria Thibault.

Scouting the Leathernecks: Western Illinois will open up its 2019 campaign at SIUE Saturday. The Leathernecks have five freshmen newcomers and three returners who helped put up a 10-8 overall record last season. Mirko Bjelica is in his fourth season as the Head Coach of Western Illinois.

Scouting the Bears: Missouri State also will begin its 2019 season at SIUE. The Bears have four freshmen newcomers alongside six returners, including Ellie Burger who was an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection last season. MSU finished 2018 with a 12-10 overall record. Mallory Weber is in her fifth season leading the Bears.

OVC Predicted Order of Finish: The Cougars were picked to finish eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference this season, a poll voted on by league head coaches.
