"I am extremely proud of the way we competed this week," SIUE Head Coach Adam Albertsen said. "We saw a lot of positive growth and were able to break through in multiple tight matches."

SIUE's Alina Munteanu defeated Wichita State's Hsu 7-6, 6-4, (7-3) in the first round of the singles tournament; Oklahoma State's Guinart defeated her then in the next round.

In singles, Callaghan Adams went 1-1. She defeated Oklahoma's Jabrenski 6-3, 6-3.

Raillane Kamdem also went 1-1 for the Cougars in singles play, with a big comeback win over Perlitz (Bradley) 4-6, 6-4, (10-6).

SIUE's Lara Tupper defeated Northern Iowa 6-2, 6-3 before splitting sets and falling in a tight tiebreaker with Iowa.

In doubles qualifers, the SIUE duo of Adams and Tupper fell to Ariana Rodriguez and Alba Salinas (Saint Louis) 8-6.

"We are looking to continue this growth on and off the court now as we prepare for the spring season," added Albertsen.

The Cougars fall season has ended, with the spring season set to get underway Jan. 21 at Chicago State.
