Women's Tennis Heads to Illinois State Sunday

SIUE vs. Illinois State

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis team will compete at Illinois State on Sunday, only their second dual match of the season. The match is set for 1 p.m. at the Redbirds' new indoor facility, the Bloomington Tennis Centre.

The Cougars opened their spring season with a 5-2 win over the Bulldogs at Drake University Jan. 22.

In singles play, wins were gathered by Tiffany Hollebeck, Morgan Steffes, Lara Tupper and Callaghan Adams. The Cougars also managed to get the doubles point with a win from Mia Frogner/Tiffany Hollebeck at No. 1 and the doubles duo of Lexi Aranda/Morgan Steffes at No. 3.

"I was very pleased with our performance for the first match of the year," said Head Coach Nick Mueller. "Drake is a good program, and we stepped up when we had to. Illinois State is also a quality opponent. We have improved in a few areas since last Sunday, so I know the team is anxious to compete again. Another early season test will be good for our team."

This will be Illinois State's first match of the season.
