EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Ohio Valley Conference Championship April 22-24 at the Centennial Sportsplex.

The Cougars secured the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye after clinching a share of the regular season title with UT Martin. SIUE went 9-1 in the regular season, winning their last nine consecutive matches.

SIUE will face the winner of third-seeded Eastern Kentucky and sixth-seeded Murray State Saturday at 2 p.m.

The regular season title is the first-ever for the Cougars and the highest seed the team has earned in the OVC Tournament. With the first round bye, the Cougars have reached the semifinals in the OVC for the first time.

"Our team had a great regular season and now we are transitioning into postseason," said SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller. "Our team has a bigger goal in mind, and we start pursuit of that goal on Saturday.  We are starting to really come together as a group, and the results show that. I know our team will be ready for the semifinals Saturday."

Lexi Aranda leads the way for the Cougars with a 9-1 OVC record from the No. 1 singles position. Madeline Hill also has been dominant in league play, posting a 9-1 record from the No. 3 singles spot.
