EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE women's tennis cruised to its seventh straight Ohio Valley Conference win with a 7-0 victory over Jacksonville State on senior day.
The Cougars honored its three seniors, Sierra Halverson, Monique Krutak, and McKenzie Thomas for their last home match after the win.
"I'm so proud of our seniors today," said SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller. "All three stepped up big and helped us win. It has been such a pleasure working with these seniors. We have an ultimate goal in mind, and these seniors are going to lead us there."
SIUE now improves to 7-1 in the conference and 15-4 overall.
Halverson and Krutak won their doubles match 6-2 from the No. 2 spot, along with Lexi Aranda and Morgan Steffes who won 6-1 from the No. 3 position.
All six Cougars won their matches in singles. Aranda overcame Olivia Nguyen 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot to win her fifth consecutive match. Krutak defeated Diana Mirceta 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 to win her ninth straight singles match.
Also earning points for the Cougars were Mia Frogner from No. 2, Madeline Hill at No. 3, Morgan Steffes at No. 5, and Thomas from No. 6.
The Cougars continue OVC play Friday, April 15 at Morehead State.
