EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis looks to improve upon its Ohio Valley Conference record with away matches at Austin Peay and Murray State.
The match at Austin Peay is slated for 2 p.m. Friday, and the match at Murray State is at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Cougars, currently 9-4 overall and 1-1 in the OVC, begin their first set of road matches in conference play after a two-match home stand last weekend. Freshman Madeline Hill looks to extend her 10-match win streak in singles play and remain undefeated in the OVC.
"Playing on the road allows for a different atmosphere and a great bonding environment," said SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller. "Strong teams really come together on road trips."
The Governors of Austin Peay are 2-6 on the year and 1-1 in OVC play. Murray State is 6-6 overall and also 1-1 in the OVC.
"We have two solid opponents this weekend in APSU and MSU, and we will take it one match at a time," said Mueller. "The team is in competition mode right now, and they are anxious to start playing points again. We have done some really good things so far this spring, but the exciting part is that we have not reached our peak. With five weeks left in the season we haven't played our best tennis yet."
