EDWARSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis won its sixth straight match with a 5-2 victory over Illinois State.

The Cougars improve to 7-2 on the spring season with the win.

"We had a good weekend overall," said SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller. "Doubles proved to be valuable today and our No. 3 team stepped up big. We got contributions from every team member today which makes it feel even better."

The squad began the match by earning the doubles point with wins from Lexi Aranda and Sierra Halverson at No. 2 and McKenzie Thomas and Ann-Christine Link at No. 3. The victory was the ninth straight win for Aranda and Halverson, who remain undefeated.

Earning points in singles matches for the Cougars were Aranda at No. 1, Madeline Hill at No. 3, Monique Krutak at No. 5, and Morgan Steffes at No. 6.

"This is great momentum going into spring break," said Mueller. "Hitting outside in Florida will cause an adjustment period, but our team is excited for the trip."

SIUE heads to Boa Raton, Florida, for a matchup against Florida Atlantic Mar. 6.
