EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE women's tennis welcomes Butler and Western Illinois for two weekend home matches.

The Cougars, 3-2, face Butler, 1-9, Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Western Illinois , 2-2, Sunday at 11 a.m., beginning the first of four straight home matches.

"Being at home for the next four matches will be great for our team," said Head Coach NIck Mueller. "Their daily routines will stay unchanged for the most part. The home courts, familiar surroundings and local supporters have always been benefits of competing at home."

Ann-Christine Link enters the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record in the spring season, while the doubles pair of Lexi Aranda and Sierra Halverson are an undefeated 5-0 as well.

"In terms of doubles, we are constantly reviewing the fundamentals of positioning, movement and technique," said Mueller. "Good doubles does not happen overnight. Good doubles requires constant repetition. Our efforts in practice are starting to pay off in matches."

Aranda also was awarded the first Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week award for her performance Feb. 6 against Chicago State. Mueller adds that the depth of the team will be showcased this weekend.

"The depth of our team will be highlighted this weekend," he said. "One of our strengths this year is our depth, and this will be evident this weekend. We are not completely healthy yet, but we are close. I'm looking forward to getting contributions from multiple players."
