EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis Head Coach Nick Mueller announced the addition of Callaghan Adams (Edwardsville, Ill.) and Tiffany Hollebeck (Plano, Tex.) for the 2016-17 season.
"I'm very excited to announce the signings of Tiffany Hollebeck and Callaghan Adams to the women's tennis program starting in fall 2016," said Mueller. "Both Tiffany and Callaghan are tremendous talents, and both are very well-rounded people."
Adams set multiple records at Edwardsville High School, including all-time wins, all-time state wins, and was the first four-time individual sectional champion. She also was named to the All-State team in the 2013, 2014, and 2015 seasons.
"Callaghan has been ranked inside the top 20 in Illinois, which is probably the strongest state for tennis in the Midwest," said Mueller. "She brings with her a heavy forehand, and likes to get some free points from her serve."
Hollebeck joins the Cougars out of Plano West High School, bringing with her multiple state championships. She also was a part of a doubles team that was the first at Plano West to win a state championship title in the spring.
"Tiffany has been ranked inside the top 20 in Texas, which is one of the strongest states for tennis in the country," said Mueller. "She is an all-court player with very good net skills. Tiffany has a full arsenal of shots, and her variety and skill-set will make her a great weapon for our team.
"Both of these girls are very talented, with extreme upside," added Mueller. "They are both great students and come from very nice families. Both of these girls represent themselves well, as well as their high schools. Tiffany and Callaghan will be great future ambassadors for SIUE women's tennis. I can't wait to see them here next fall."
SIUE women's tennis begins their spring season Jan. 23 at Missouri.
