EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis opened the 2015 fall season with their home event, the SIUE Fall Invite.

Day one was highlighted by several wins in singles and doubles competition.

Junior Lexi Aranda defeated her opponent Aspen Cervin of Saint Louis in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Mia Frogner also won her first singles match against Saint Louis opponent Verginie Tchakarova 6-3, 7-6. Madeline Hill, in her debut as a Cougar, overcame Ally McKenzie of Saint Louis 6-2, 6-4.

First-year Head Coach Nick Mueller was most impressed with his team's doubles performance. The teams of Aranda and Frogner, and Monique Krutak and Hill notched two victories apiece over Saint Louis and Evansville. McKenzie Thomas and Sierra Halverson tallied a win over Evansville.

"Overall, we played great doubles on the day," said Mueller. "Our energy was solid throughout. We learned some things in singles against a strong opponent, and we look forward to carrying the momentum into day two."
