EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team continues Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. home match against Jacksonville State.
It will be the first OVC home contest of the spring for the Cougars, who are 5-7 overall and 0-2 in the league play. Jacksonville State enters the weekend with a 6-8 overall record and a 2-2 mark in OVC play.
Live stats will be available for Saturday's match at http://www.siuecougars.com/sports/w-tennis/2013-14/files/xlive.htm.
"We lost a close one to Jacksonville State last year so we know they are a very talented team," said SIUE Head Coach Jason Coomer. "We feel we are improved from last year and look forward to the opportunity to play at home this weekend."
The Cougars are coming off their first OVC road trip in which the team gave defending OVC champion Eastern Kentucky a scare. SIUE lost 4-3 and scored more regular season team points against the Colonels than any OVC school in more than two seasons.
Coomer said it will be nice for the Cougars to stay within their normal routine at home.
"Playing at home is always a welcome opportunity," he added.
