EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's tennis team fell to 5-10 on the year this afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Saint Louis at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
In singles, the Cougars fell in the first four matches in straight sets. In No. 5 singles, SIUE's Amanda Niebur split the first two sets only to fall to SLU's Caitlin Bokulic 6-0, 2-6, 10-7. The Cougars would also fall in the No. 6 singles by default.
Saint Louis, 5-9 would win the doubles point taking all three doubles matches. Kelsey Laird and Ali Wulfers lost to Joe Becker and Hailee Elmore at No. 1 doubles 8-2. At No. 2 doubles, SIUE's Stephanie Clark and Niebur would drop an 8-4 decision to Casey Miller and Sarah Septien. SIUE would lose the No. 3 doubles match by default.
The Cougars will attempt to redeem themselves on Sunday when they face former Great Lakes Conference opponent Lewis University. The Flyers will enter the match with a 6-5 record. The match is set to begin Sunday at the SIUE Tennis Courts at 10 a.m.
