EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE Interim Head Coach Jessica Jones debuted her team for the fall season at Cougar Field and said her team showed their versatility.
"The versatility is something I'm very excited about," said Jones.
The Cougars defeated Wabash Valley 4-0 and dropped the nightcap to Saint Louis 5-0.
"We have a lot of kids who can do a lot of different things," said Jones. "We have speed. We have power. We have timely hitting. We have kids who can play different positions."
"They did a great job, especially for the first game coming out.
SIUE hit .320 as a team for the day with sophomore shortstop and leadoff batter Alana Cobb-Adams leading the way with four hits.
Cobb-Adams said her approach at the plate is different this season
"I go up there battling with the pitcher rather than worrying about my mechanics," said Cobb-Adams.
The Cougars continue the fall season Saturday with another set of games. SIUE battles Parkland at 2 p.m. and Three Rivers at 4 p.m.
