Ofoia Accumulating Honors

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Incoming SIUE softball freshman Sammie Ofoia (Pearl City, Hawaii) has racked up multiple accolades on the heels of leading Saint Francis to its second Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) State Championship.

Ofoia earned Most Outstanding Player honors in the State Tournament as selected by the media and the HHSAA.

Most recently, Ofoia was chosen as the All-Hawaii Division II Softball Player of the Year by scoringlive.com

"(Sammie) has been a part of two state championships and comes from a successful summer team (Mililani Prep)," SIUE Head Coach Sandy Montgomery said. "She understands how to win and what it takes to play at a high level."

Ofoia will become the third SIUE softball player from Hawaii, joining rising junior Kalei Kaneshiro and rising sophomore Alana Cobb-Adams. Cobb-Adams recently was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team and to the OVC All-Newcomer team.
