EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Kaitlin Colosimo threw the 22nd no-hitter in Southern Illinois University Edwardsville softball history Sunday in an 8-0, five-inning win over Missouri-St. Louis.
SIUE, ranked No. 7 nationally in the NFCA/NCAA Division II national poll, also won the opener of the doubleheader 4-2 to improve its season record to 21-4 and 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. UMSL fell to 10-14 overall and 2-3 in the GLVC.
Colosimo, who did not allow a hit in nine innings of work for the weekend, didn't get off to a great start Sunday but finished quite strong. Colosimo, now 10-1 this season, hit UMSL leadoff hitter Alex Pepin and then garnered the next 15 outs, including six strikeouts, as the offense took over for a game called on the eight-run slaughter rule.

In the first game, McCune fanned six in the seven-inning game to improve her season record to 9-3.
