MARTIN, Tenn.— The SIUE women's soccer team defeated the Skyhawks of UT Martin 3-0 on Sunday to win their second Ohio Valley Conference game of the season.

"I'm extremely happy for the players today," commented Head Coach Derek Burton. "They've deserved more from quite a few games."

The other goal scored in the first half came from Angel Ikeda at minute 18.

The final goal from the Cougars came at minute 76 with a goal from Megan Keeven and an assist from Kayla Klipsch.

"To get a very solid win on the road against the defending OVC champions is a great reward for their hard work," Burton added.

In goal for the team, Jensen Schoch recorded a shutout while notching 10 saves on the day.

"The ability to bounce back after an emotional overtime loss shows the players belief in one another and their sheer competitiveness," Burton commented.

The team now moves to 4-5-3 on the season and 2-2-2 in OVC play.

The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday when they host Belmont with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
