FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Cougars fell short to the Rams of Colorado State, 3-2 on Sunday. The team now moves to 0-1-1 on the season.
"We had a great start today and really came out dictating the game in many ways," commented head coach Derek Burton. "Our pressure on the ball was good, our winning early was fantastic and this lead to sustained possession and scoring chances for our team."
MacKenzie Litzsinger scored the first goal of the game at the 13-minute mark, with an assist from Emma Dutko. It did not take long before the Rams responded with a goal of their own at the 19-minute mark.
The Rams also found the back of the net at both the 25th and the 50th minute.
"We will get back and recover and get to work to clean up a few details," Burton added. "It's been a great trip in terms of our team environment and it's shown us where our improvements need to come."
The team will have a week to prepare before traveling to Indiana State to take on the Sycamores with a kickoff set for 1:00 p.m.
"Now we have a proper week of training to work and prepare, which is what we need," Burton concluded with. "The players can't wait for the next match because they can see how far we have come along as a team."
