BRENTWOOD, Tn.—The Ohio Valley Conference preseason rankings have been released and SIUE women's soccer has grabbed the number four spot in the conference. The poll is the predicted order of finish for the upcoming 2019 OVC women's soccer season as voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
The Cougars look to build on last season after finishing fifth in the OVC at 4-5-1, with an overall record of 6-9-2.
The team will return Second Team All-OVC Selection and leading scorer Andrea Frerker who accounted for nine points (four goals, one assist). Other returning players include: Angel Ikeda (three goals, one assist), Allison Wendt (two goals, three assists), Becca Jostes (two goals, three assists), and Amanda DiNardo (three goals). Also returning for the cougars in goal is Jensen Schoch who notched an impressive three shutouts and also posted 76 saves on the season.
The Cougars are set to kick off the season on August 10th, when they will travel to Normal, Illinois to play an exhibition match against Illinois State at 3 p.m.
