Tournament Time: The Cougars earned the No. 5 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, matching them up against No. 8 seed Morehead State. The winner will face No. 4 seed Eastern Kentucky in the quarterfinals Sunday at 12 p.m. Both games will be played in Richmond, Kentucky.
Last Time Out: The Cougars fell on the road to Morehead State 1-0 Sept. 16. SIUE is 5-3-1 all-time against the Eagles.
Point Leaders: Andrea Frerker (three goals, one assist) and Allison Wendt (two goals, three assists) are tied for the lead in points for the Cougars with seven each. Wendt's three assists in OVC play are tied for third most in conference.
Young Guns: Freshman Amanda DiNardo is tied with Frerker for first in total goals with three. Sophomore Angel Ikeda's two game winning-goals in OVC play is tied for fifth in conference.
What a Pass: The Cougars are third in the OVC in assists per game (1.07) and tied for fourth in assists (16). SIUE is fifth in the OVC with 74 corner kicks.
Shot Leaders: Frerker leads the Cougars in shots with 33 and Becca Jostes is second with 29. Jostes has recorded six points (two goals, two assists) this season.
Scouting the Eagles: Morehead State made a late season push to make it into the OVC Tournament, going 3-2 in their final five games. Dani Wilson leads the Eagles with seven goals and one assist on the season. Wilson's seven goals is tied for sixth most in the OVC. Michelle Wasburn has started six games in goal for the Eagles, including the final five games. Washburn has a 3-3 record while compiling 42 saves.
Coaches Corner: "The results from the past two and a half months don't matter at this point," SIUE Head Coach Derek Burton said. "It's essentially a new season, and postseason soccer is what it's all about. We are working on our confidence level to put the ball into the back of the net, and that's what you need in the postseason."
