JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – SIUE women's soccer fell 2-0 at Jacksonville State Sunday in the Cougars regular season finale.
SIUE falls to 5-9-1 (4-5-1 Ohio Valley Conference) while the Gamecocks improve to 4-11-3 (2-7-1 OVC).
JSU started the scoring off in the 16th minute when Madison Carruthers scored off a cross put in from Alicia Pallister.
In the first half, the Gamecocks outshot the Cougars 8-7.
Early in the second half, JSU scored their second goal of the day. Chloe Doherty put away a far post cross in from Rachel Blanding.
The Cougars outshot the Gamecocks 13-11 in full-time. SIUE created six corner kick opportunities compared to two for JSU.
SIUE's Angel Ikeda led the Cougars with four shots, one on goal. Andrea Frerker recorded three shots for the Cougars.
Next up for the Cougars will be the OVC Tournament. SIUE earned the No. 5 seed and will face off against No. 8 seed Morehead State in the first round at Eastern Kentucky.
