TOURNAMENT TIME: The Cougars are looking to win their third conference tournament championship in four years after winning in 2014 and 2016.

FIRST ROUND SUCCESS: No. 7 seed SIUE defeated No. 6 seed UT Martin 2-1 in the first round of the OVC Tournament Friday. The Cougars now hold an 8-2 overall record in Ohio Valley Conference postseason tournaments.

LAST MEETING: The Cougars fell to the Colonels 3-2 back on Oct. 1st at Korte Stadium. Kelsey Pruett had the first goal for SIUE off a screaming shot from 30 yards out. Peyton Roehnelt added a penalty kick for the Cougars in the 85th minute.

SCOUTING THE COLONELS: Eastern Kentucky received a first round bye in the OVC Tournament. The Colonels are led by Jordan Foster and Emmi Carroll. Foster had 15 points (six goals, three assists) this season and was fifth in the OVC with 64 shots. Carroll recorded 13 points (six goals, one assist) on the year. Anna Hall has played every minute in net for the Colonels this season. Hall has 60 saves on the season and her six shutouts were the third most in the conference.

TOP PERFORMERS: Caroline Hoefert is the leading scorer for the Cougars with 12 points (five goals, two assists). Freshman MacKenzie Litzsinger is second in scoring for the Cougars with nine points (four goals, one assist). Roehnelt has four goals for SIUE.

WHAT A PASS: Senior midfielder Emily Grahl finished fourth in the OVC with five assists. Grahl is seventh all-time for SIUE in career assists with 20. She has started all 81 games of her career, putting her first all-time in career starts and games played for SIUE.

WHAT A SAVE: Juli Rossi had seven saves in round one against UT Martin. She recorded 71 saves during the regular season which was tied for third in the OVC. Rossi has five shutouts, placing her tied for third in the conference. Rossi won the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week honors in week two this season.  

SIDE NOTES: Avery Anderson has scored seven points (two goals, three assists) this season, including an assist in the first round. Ashlyn Walter has shot 23 times this season, recording two goals. Freshmen Andrea Frerker has started all 18 games for the Cougars, recording four points (one goal, two assists).

CONFERENCE LEADERS: In OVC play this season, the Cougars are second in the conference with 49 points and 18 goals. SIUE also is tied for second in assists per game (1.30).

NEXT UP:  The winner of the quarterfinal matchup between the Cougars and Colonels will face the no. 2 seed Tennessee Tech Nov. 3 in Murray Ky.
