Gorman Leads Field at Saluki Invitational


CARBONDALE, Ill. – SIUE's Alison Gorman fired a first-round 71 (-1) Sunday and is tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Saluki Invitational hosted by SIU Carbondale at Hickory Ridge Golf Course.

Gorman, who won a tournament at Hickory Ridge during the fall of 2014, is tied for first with South Dakota's Brenna Lervick.

Also for the Cougars, Madison Frerking is tied for 34th with an 80. Brittney Jostes and Miranda Lidisky, who is playing as an individual, are tied for 42nd with an 82. Molly Marcum is tied for 62nd with an 86. Serena Hou shot an 87 and is tied for 66th. Heather McDaniel, also an individual, is tied for 77th with a 92. Morgan Clark, another individual competitor for the Cougars, is tied for 82nd with a 93.

As a team, SIUE is tied for eighth place with a 319. Host SIU Carbondale leads the team competition with a 303. Austin Peay and William Woods each have a 304 to tie for second place.

The second round gets underway Monday with a 9 a.m. start.
