ABOUT TODAY'S OPPONENT
• Eastern Kentucky is winless during the Ohio Valley Conference season, falling 80-60 most recently at Eastern Illinois.
• Shay Solomon is the team's leading scorer at 11.9 points per game. Bria Bass is second on the team at 10.2 points per game.
• EKU is coming off its top performance of the season from three-point range, hitting 10 of 19 against EIU.

• Morehead State escaped with a 73-67 Ohio Valley Conference victory over SIUE in front of 1,776 energized fans on Education Day at the Vadalabene Center.
 
OPENING TIP
• This is the seventh season for SIUE Head Coach Paula Buscher. She led the Cougars to a Women's Basketball Invitational appearance last season, the second such NCAA Division I postseason tournament appearance for SIUE.
• Coach Buscher recorded win No. 100 at SIUE against McKendree. She recorded her 300th career victory last season.
Micah Jones became the 30th player in school history to pass 900 career points. Only 26 players in school history have passed the 1,000 mark.
Alek Akuen recorded a career high 11 points in the loss to Morehead State. She was 3 of 3 from the field and hit 5 of 7 shots from the free throw line. It was Akuen's first double-digit scoring effort at SIUE.
• Bauman, who has 43 blocks this season, holds the SIUE single-season record for blocks (63) set last season and is the all-time leader in blocks at SIUE with 176.
• Bauman is the first player in school history to record 40 or more blocks in three consecutive seasons.
• SIUE is No. 14 nationally in three-point field goal percentage defense at 25.9 percent. Morehead State hit 17.6 percent (3-19) Thursday. 
Allie Troeckler leads the Cougars in steals with 32, just ahead of Christen King with 28. Both have had three-plus steals in a game four times this season.
Nakiah Bell has 145 career three-pointers made and is sixth on the all-time list.
• Turnovers have been a key for the Cougars this season. SIUE is 5-0 in games when it has fewer turnovers than its opponent.
• Coach Buscher announced four signees during early signing period. They include 5-9 guard Piper Francis (Mountain View, Missouri), 5-10 guard Tori Handley (Jeffersonville, Indiana), 5-11 forward Mikayla Kinnard (Louisville, Kentucky) and Ajulu Thatha (Indianapolis, Indiana).
