TOURNAMENT TIME
• The Roo Holiday Classic includes a second game for SIUE. The Cougars are scheduled to play Missouri State Friday in a 3 p.m. contest at the Swinney Recreation Center.
• Missouri State plays Louisiana Tech in a 6:30 p.m. game Thursday.
 
LAST GAME
• Illinois came out as the aggressor in the third period and downed SIUE women's basketball 74-57 at the State Farm Center. SIUE trailed at halftime 41-36, but an 18-8 third quarter run pushed the Illinois lead to double digits. Nakiah Bell led the SIUE offense with 17 points, including a season-high five three-pointers. Jay'nee Alston added three three-pointers.
 
OPENING TIP
• This is the seventh season for SIUE Head Coach Paula Buscher. She led the Cougars to a Women's Basketball Invitational appearance last season, the second such NCAA Division I postseason tournament appearance for SIUE.
• Coach Buscher needs one victory for 100 at SIUE. She recorded her 300th career victory last season.
• This is the 12th meeting between SIUE and UMKC. SIUE has won four out of the last five meetings between the two squad.
• Coach Buscher announced four signees during early signing period. They include 5-9 guard Piper Francis (Mountain View, Missouri), 5-10 guard Tori Handley (Jeffersonville, Indiana), 5-11 forward Mikayla Kinnard (Louisville, Kentucky) and Ajulu Thatha (Indianapolis, Indiana).
• SIUE is 20-0 under Coach Buscher when scoring 80 or more points.
• SIUE is ranked No. 5 nationally three-point field goal percentage defense (22.5 percent).
• The Cougars connected on a regular season-high nine three-pointers at Illinois. The last time SIUE has hit 10 or more as a team was Nov. 11, 2016, against South Dakota.
• SIUE recorded a season-best 19 steals at Chicago State.
Micah Jones led the team in rebounding for the first time this season with seven at Illinois. She has been SIUE's leading rebounder 23 times in her collegiate career.
• SIUE is ranked 12th nationally in fewest turnovers with 109. The Cougars are 31st overall in turnovers per game at 13.6 per contest.
• The games against UMKC and Missouri State are the final two of nine consecutive road games with the Cougars playing away from home Nov. 14-Dec. 21.
