SIUE ran into the No. 2 offense in the nation Friday as Northern Illinois defeated the Cougars 97-78 at the Convocation Center. Northern Illinois hit 12 three-pointers and had five players score in double figures. SIUE was aggressive in the paint with 50 of its 78 points inside. The Cougars also added nine three-pointer, the most since the season opener at South Dakota.
Donshel Beck recorded her first double-double of the season at Northern Illinois with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Lauren White became the third player this season to finish with 20 or more points in a game. She scored 20 points at Northern Illinois. Gwen Adams scored 21 at Missouri while Beck was first to do so with 20 at home against Western Illinois.
SIUE is No. 3 in the Ohio Valley Conference in three-point field goal percentage at 36.1 percent, trailing just Southeast Missouri (39.6). The Cougars hit 9 of 17 from three-point range against Northern Illinois after going 0 of 10 at home against Missouri-St. Louis.
Amri Wilder recorded a career-best 12 points off the bench against Northern Illinois, going 5 for 9 from the field.
HITTING YOUR FREE THROWS
Adams is No. 11 in the nation and No. 1 in the Ohio Valley Conference in free throw percentage at 92.1 percent. She is 35 of 38 from the line this season. Adams is the lone player in the OVC to have hit more than 90 percent (minimum 30 free throws attempted).
DISHING IT OUT
Nakiah Bell is second in the OVC in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.24. She has recorded a team-leading 38 assists to 17 turnovers. Bell also has done so while averaging a team-leading 32.7 minutes played per game.
Bell also is No. 95 nationally in both three-pointers attempted (65) and made (23).
Lauren White was named to the All-Tournament team at the Air Force Classic. The Cougar junior shot 60 percent from three-point range (3-5) and averaged 13.0 points per game against Utah Valley and Vanderbilt. White also had a team-leading five steals in the tournament.
SIUE tied a season high with 47 rebounds against Missouri-St. Louis. The Cougars also had 47 rebounds in the win over SIU Carbondale and the loss to Vanderbilt.
ON THE BOARDS
Sydney Bauman tied her career high rebounds total with 10 at Northern Illinois. She previously pulled down 10 rebounds against SIU Carbondale this season and Southeast Missouri last season.

SIUE has three current players among the top 50 in scoring all-time and each are playing in their third season of competition at SIUE. Adams is 33rd with 754 points. Beck is 39th with 668 points. Jones is 40th with 638 points.
SIUE women's basketball was picked to finish fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference after advancing to the conference tournament semifinals for the second straight year.
