LEADING SCORER

Donshel Beck took over as the team's leading scorer after an 18-point effort in SIUE's 60-59 win over SIU Carbondale.

ON THE BOARDS

Sydney Bauman tied her career high in rebounds with 10 against the Salukis. She pulled down 10 rebounds last season against Southeast Missouri (2/2/4/16).

GETTING IT DONE DEFENSIVELY

Lauren White did not score from the field but provided nine rebounds (four on offense) and recorded a team-best four steals against SIU Carbondale.

STILL ON THE BOARDS

SIUE grabbed a season-high 47 rebounds against the Salukis, outrebounding SIU Carbondale 47-37. It was first time this season SIUE had outrebounded a team.

HOME OPENER

SIUE is 27-11 all-time in season openers beginning with the 1979-80 season. SIUE has won each of its last four home openers over UMKC in 2013, Drake in 2014, Northern Illinois in 2015 and SIU Carbondale in 2016.

FIRST START

Amri Wilder played a career-high 29 minutes her first career start against SIU Carbondale.

FROM THREE-POINT RANGE

Nakiah Bell leads the Cougars with nine three-pointers followed by four from Wilder and two each from Lauren White and Adams.

SECOND CHANCES
SIUE scored a season-best 19 points on second-chance points against SIU Carbondale.

SHOOTING THE TREY

Smith has 119 career three-pointers and is No. 7 all-time at SIUE. The school record holder is Whitney Sykes with 277 from 2004 to 2008. Smith tied the single-game record for three-pointers with eight against Austin Peay, joining record holders Whitney Sykes (05-06) and Jazmin Hill (11-12).

SCORING EXPERIENCE

SIUE has three current players among the top 50 in scoring all-time and each are playing in their third season of competition at SIUE. Adams is 36th with 688 points. Jones is 39th with 610 points. Beck is 41st with 584 points.

TOURNAMENT TIME

The Cougars scheduled two tournaments this season beginning with the Air Force Tournament Dec. 2-3. SIUE also travels to DeLand, Florida, for the Stetson Tournament Dec. 19-20.

OVC PICKS

SIUE women's basketball was picked to finish fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference after advancing to the conference tournament semifinals for the second straight year.

REFERENCING SIUE

The proper usage of the University's name is Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. There are no hyphens or other words to connect University and Edwardsville. SIUE is the preferred reference to the athletics programs. The nickname is Cougars, which is the same for men and women.
