EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE cross country team impressed at the John Flamer Invitational Friday with three top-5 finishes.
The meet included runners from SIUE and SEMO. The SIUE men took first overall and the women placed second.
"We continue to progress and are building with each week of training," SIUE assistant coach Kayla Brown said. "We want to be in the moment when racing, and we as a team improved in that area since our last meet."
SIUE's Ben Scamihorn won the men's 8K with a time of 26:15.7 and Landon Skelly placed second (26:25.6). Austin Woodard took fourth for the Cougars (27:05.6), Liam O'Connell seventh (27:55.6) and Joseph Stone 11th (29:43.9).
On the women's side, SIUE's Aly Goff took fourth and ran a personal record time of 18:50.3. Also running PRs for the Cougars were freshman Emily Ellis (19:56.0) and Gabrielle Wood (20:48.7). Ellis placed eighth, Keri Burmester 10th, Wood 12th, Kassidy Dexheimer 15th and Jalea Paslay 16th.

SIUE is back in action Sept. 29 when they travel to compete in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago.
