Cougars Set Seven PRs at the OVC Championships

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The SIUE cross country teams set seven personal records at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Saturday. Haley Miller was awarded with All-OVC Second team honors.

"The women tied their best points total at an OVC meet and improved upon their place from last year," Assistant Coach Kayla Brown said. "The men have a bright future ahead of them with their experience and growth in this season so far."

The Cougars placed ninth overall in the men's 8K. Landon Skelly finished 40th and ran a PR (25:38.1). Austin Woodard finished 51st and Tyler Owens 54th. Austin Liam O'Connell placed 58th while running a PR (26:24.3).

"Landon really stepped up for us this season," Brown added. "He continues to grow as a runner. We are excited about his progress and what he brings to the team."

SIUE placed seventh overall in the women's 5K. Miller had her fourth top 20 finish of the season, placing 14th while running a PR (17:46.4). Allie Sweatt placed 28th with a PR of 18:15.8. Jess Clarke ran a PR of 18:32.5, placing her 37th. Aly Goff (18:50.4) and Kassidy Dexheimer (19:30.4) also ran PRs on the day.

"It was a great race run by Haley, she really set the tone for the women as a team," Brown said. "The women truly ran as a unit and for each other today."

The Cougars are back in action when they will run in the NCAA Regionals at Ames, Iowa, Nov. 10th.
