EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Four SIUE wrestlers will be competing at the 51st Ken Kraft Midlands Championship in Evanston, Ill.
Patrick Myers (Cresson, Pa.), Connor McMahon (Stow, Ohio), Jake Residori (Shorewood, Ill.), and Deshoun White (Champaign, Ill.) will represent the Cougars at the annual event which is hosted by Northwestern.
"A lot of the guys we're taking up there are right on the edge against top-ranked wrestlers," said SIUE Head Coach Jeremy Spates.
Residori enters the weekend with the team's best record, holding a 10-5 mark and three falls at 174 pounds. White holds a 6-6 record this season having wrestled at both 174 and 184 pounds.
Myers has a 7-8 record with two falls and two major decisions at 133 pounds. McMahon only recently started competing this season due to injuries and holds a 2-3 record at 165 pounds.
"We have a pretty tough schedule as it is. With injuries, we have more than four who can compete but some of those guys have had injuries," said Spates.
The Midlands run Sunday and Monday with the finals being shown live on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m. CT.
