SIUE’s Ray Named to MSU-Northern Hall of Fame

EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – David Ray, SIUE's wrestling coach since 2008, was inducted to the athletics Hall of Fame at Montana State University-Northern.


Ray was a 10-time Coach of the Year during his 12 seasons as the head coach of the Lights wrestling program. He was a four-time National Coach of the Year in helping MSU-Northern to four NAIA national championships.


His dual meet coaching record of 135-30-4 from 1993 to 2005 at MSU-Northern was highlighted by 85 All-Americans and 21 national champions. That includes four-time NAIA national champion Turk Lords, who also was inducted into the MSU-Northern Hall of Fame. Ray also Emmett Willson who was named the 2003 Hodge Trophy award winner which is given to the top wrestler in the nation among all college divisions.


Ray's teams finished in the top three at the NAIA Championsips seven times.
