HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The SIUE track and field team completed day two of the Marshall Invitational Saturday with the men taking first place overall. The Cougars claimed multiple first place finishes at the Invitational.
The SIUE men's jumping team swept the competition, placing first in all three events. Logan Webb placed first in both the long jump (21 feet, 5.5 inches) and triple jump (44-0.75). Freshman Ethan Poston took first in the high jump with a mark of 6-6.75.
The Cougars also placed first in each of the men's throwing events. Austin Lynch won both the weight throw (61-03.50) and the shot put (47-06.50).
O'Connor ran a five second personal record time in the mile. His time of 4:13.45 is number five for all-time for SIUE. O'Connor also won the 800m with a time of 1:54.01.
Collin Brown placed second in both the 60m (7.19) and the 200m (23.00).
The SIUE women had an equally impressive weekend at the Invitational. In Aly Goff's first ever 3k, she recorded a time of 9:59.84, which is second all-time for SIUE. Goff also placed first in the mile with (5:01.64).
In the women's 5k, Kassidy Dexheimer clocked a time of 18:24.23, placing her seventh all-time for SIUE.
The SIUE men placed first out of five teams overall and the women placed fourth out of six teams.
Next up for the Cougars will be the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 20-21 in Birmingham, Alabama.
