Meet Information: The SIUE / SEMO dual invite will kick off the 2018-19 indoor campaign for the Cougars. The meet is set to take place at the SEMO Student Rec Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Fresh Face: Doug McDannald joined the SIUE track and field coaching staff as an assistant coach during the fall of 2018. McDannald was a member of the University of Southern California track and field team, running the 400m, 400 hurdles and 4x4 relay for the Trojans. He has coaching experience at Eastern Illinois, Illinois and Utah State.

Men's Report: The SIUE men look to build on their successes from the 2017-18 season. Junior John Barnes was the 2017 Indoor Ohio Valley Conference weight throw champion with a personal record throw of 61 feet, 8.5 inches. Senior Matthew O'Connor won the 800m title (1:55.81) at last season's OVC Indoor Championships. O'Connor holds the SIUE school record in the indoor 800m (1:51.00).

Women's Report: Junior Nichyria Byrd will look to continue her winning ways during the 2018-19 season. Byrd won the long jump while setting a PR at the 2018 OVC Indoor Championships (19-3.25). She also placed third in the triple jump (39-4). Senior Brittney Gibbs took fourth in the triple jump at the Championships (39-1).

Looking Ahead: The SIUE / SEMO dual will be the Cougars only event until Jan. 19 when they travel to Charleston, Illinois, for the Eastern Illinois John Craft Invite.
