Prenzler To Join SIUE Track and Field

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE men's track and field and cross country teams have signed Roland Prenzler for the 2019-2020 season.

"We are excited to bring Roland into the Cougar Family," SIUE Head Coach Scott Block said. "He has shown himself to be a great competitor, and we look forward working with him this fall."

Prenzler, a distance runner from Edwardsville, Illinois, is a standout in both cross country and track and field at Edwardsville High School.

During the 2018 cross country season, Prenzler was named the Edwardsville Intelligencer's boy's Cross Country Most Valuable Player. He was a medalist in the Edwardsville Regional Oct. 20 at SIUE and placed first at the Southwestern Conference Meet, Madison County Meet, Edwardsville Invitational and the Tiger Fall Classic.

He has a 3-mile personal record time of 14:32.

Prenzler earned All-State honors in the 3,200-meter run at the 2018 Class 3A State Track and Field Meet. His time of 9:27.15 was good for 13th place at state.

His track and field PR times are 4:27.94 (1,600m) and 9:24.42 (3,200m).

"We as a program are very happy to welcome Roland to the Cougar family," added SIUE assistant coach Kayla Brown. "Roland possesses a drive to excel and push himself and his teammates to be the best runners they can be.  His improvements year to year are a testament to his work ethic and push to achieve any goal he sets."
