EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's and women's track and field look to build upon the success of the outdoor season at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Kentucky, April 8-9.
The event, hosted by Western Kentucky, opens Friday at 1 p.m. with the pole vault and continues Saturday at 9 a.m. with men's and women's discus. Running events begin Saturday at noon.
Already this season, the Cougars have seen three different student-athletes break four school records. Julian Harvey broke the high jump (7 feet, 1.5 inches) and triple jump records (50-3.5), Keith Meyer toppled the 3K record (8 minutes, 36.04 seconds), and Megan Lauzon overcame the discus record (159-7).
"I am most excited to continue the momentum that we have carried through the first two outdoor meets," said Interim Head Coach Scott Block. "We are off to a great start, and we look to build upon that."
This is the sixth year that the Cougars will participate in the Hilltopper Relays.
"It is a great meet for this point in the season, and we get to see a lot of teams that we typically don't get the chance to compete against," said Block. "The expectation is to have a high rate of personal bests. If that happens then we have accomplished our training goals."
