"It has been great seeing Julian step in as a leader in competition this year," said SIUE Jumps Coach Joey Pacione. "He has found a way to get himself mentally ready every time he competes. What I love is that he continues to set his goals higher each week and is reconsidering how he views and believes in himself."
Harvey leads the conference in both the long jump and the high jump and is second in the OVC in the triple jump.
Harvey's high jump mark of 7 feet, 0.25 inches, recorded at the Gladstein Invitational, is an SIUE record and the 36th best mark in the nation.
His long jump mark of 21-11.75, recorded at the Don DeNoon Invitational, is 24th in the country.
"It's an honor for him to be named to an award like this, but the OVC meet has yet to happen and his focus is still razor sharp on that," said Pacione.
SIUE track and field competes Friday and Saturday at the OVC Indoor Championships in Nashville, Tennessee.
