BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE track and field juniors Julian Harvey (Edwardsville, Illinois) and Claire Nolan (Taylorville, Illinois) were selected as the Ohio Valley Conference field athletes of the week for their performances at the SIU Don DeNoon Invitational last weekend.
The award is the fourth straight for Harvey. He won the long jump, leaping to an OVC-leading mark of 24 feet, 11.75 inches. The jump is a personal best for Harvey and currently ranks 18th in the nation.
"Julian has consistently attacked each meet and it has paid off with him ascending to a national level," said Jumps Coach Joey Pacione. "We'll aim to continue to improve into the next few weeks."
Nolan threw a personal best of 46-4 in the shot put, placing sixth out of 31 competitors. She sits third in the OVC.
"Claire has continued to work hard and this award is a testament to that," said Interim Head Coach Scott Block. "I think that the best is yet to come with Claire and I am excited to see how far she goes."
SIUE track and field competes in the GVSU Big Meet Feb. 12-13 in Allendale, Michigan. It is the last meet before the OVC championships.
