THE COUGARS: Earned the No. 3 seed in this week's Mid-American Conference Tournament. SIUE also was a No. 3 seed in the 2017 tournament.
SERIES STUFF: Tonight is the fourth meeting all-time between the two schools and the second in 10 days. The sides played to a scoreless draw Nov. 2 at Korte Stadium. WVU owns a 2-0-1 lead in the series. West Virginia netted an overtime winner in the team's first meeting in 2017. Last year the Cougars surrendered five goals in a road loss.
RPI: SIUE is No. 79 in the RPI ranking through games of Nov. 10. The Cougars are third among MAC teams behind Western Michigan at No. 36 and Akron at 73.
REGIONALLY SPEAKING: The Cougars are seventh in the North Region according to the United Soccer Coaches poll. Conference mates Western Michigan (3), Bowling Green (8) also appear in the poll. West Virginia is unranked in the region.
TARGET PRACTICE: SIUE has been one of the more accurate shooting teams in the country. Of the Cougars' 11.38 shots per game, 5.25 per game (46 percent) are on goal, which ranks 30th in the country.
SCORING LEADER: Jorge Gonzalez is the leading scorer in the MAC. He has a league-best nine goals and 22 points. His nine total goals rank No. 44 in the NCAA. He has four game-winning goals, which ranks 22nd in the NCAA. His 22 points make him No. 49 in the NCAA. He is 17th nationally in shots on goal per game at 2.00.
OVERTIME: SIUE has played seven overtime games this year. The Cougars are 1-2-4 in overtime games. The school record for overtime games in a season is nine, both in 2014 and again in 2016.
