OMAHA, Neb. – SIUE men's soccer capped off a successful spring season with a 3-1 win on the road at Creighton last Saturday at Morrison Stadium.
The Cougars finished the spring season with a 3-1-1 record in five contests. Two of SIUE's three wins came away from home with the Cougars earning wins over the University of Louisville and Creighton. SIUE also defeated Louisville City FC, a pro team in USL, at Korte Stadium.
Redshirt freshman Joel Duncan scored a pair of first half goals to put the Cougars up 2-0 at the break. Duncan's first came after receiving a pass from Andrew Kendall-Moullin. Only three minutes later Duncan added his second of the game, finding the back of the net with a volley from the top of the penalty box.
SIUE's back line of Austin Ledbetter, Brett Lane, Justin Bilyeu and Jacob Wieser limited Creighton's chances in the second half and the Cougars struck again just 10 minutes into the second half. This time it was Kendall-Moullin himself who scored to put SIUE up 3-0. The Cougar midfielder picked up the ball just inside of midfield, and dribbled through five Creighton defenders before slotting the ball past the Bluejays' goalkeeper.
Creighton added a second half goal for the final 3-1 margin.
