The Missouri Valley Conference named Kelly its Offensive Player of the Week while Jeffery was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week.
With more national polls to be announced Tuesday, SIUE men's soccer moved up in the College Soccer News national poll to No. 23. SIUE is 7-2 this season and leads the Missouri Valley Conference in victories.
Kelly, a senior from St. Louis, recorded both of SIUE's game-winning goals this past week. On Tuesday, the Cougar forward headed the ball past Green Bay goalkeeper Ryan Wehking at 21:49 off a corner kick from Devon Newport. Kelly would go on to add an assist on Christian Volesky's first of two goals that was scored less than 90 seconds later at 23:18.
In Sunday's 1-0 win over No. 20 Dayton, Kelly scored from 25 yards away off a pass from Jared Tejada at 74:19.
Kelly, who also was honored by TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News as a national Player of the Week, now has three game-winning goals this season and eight in his collegiate career, collecting at least one in each of his four seasons.
Jeffery, a senior defender from Florissant, Mo., recorded two shots and moved up in the offense for an assist this past week against Green Bay. Jeffery's back line leadership helped the Cougars to two shutouts.
SIUE now has six shutouts for the season and an overall goals against average of 0.56. SIUE is among the national leaders in shutouts.
Jeffery and the Cougars have not been scored on in any of their three regular season contests so far this season at home (Korte Stadium).
