Southern Illinois University Edwardsville scored a pair of goals in the first six minutes of the game and cruised to a 6-0 victory over Indianapolis in Great Lakes valley Conference men's soccer on Friday.
SIUE improved to 8-1 overall with a 3-0 mark in the GLVC. The Cougars have now won 14 straight GLVC regular season games. Indianapolis fell to 3-3-2 and 0-1-1 in the GLVC.
Six different Cougars enjoyed watching the ball hit the net.
Brian Higgins started the scoring with a goal at 2:44 on a double assist from John Matthews and Michael Burgund. Tim Collico followed that goal with a score at 5:37 from Pete Cacciatore.
Burgund followed with a goal off a corner kick from Victor Pacheco at 16:00. Pacheco earned a second assist at 28:53 when Pete Cacciatore scored on a head from 10 yards out past Indianapolis starting goalkeeper Matt Spaulding. SIUE led at halftime 4-0.
The Cougars didn't let up in the second half with goals from Mike Banner and Pacheco, who became the team's leading scorer with five goals and five assists.
SIUE outshot the Greyhounds 19-5.
The Cougars' next action is Sunday when they host 17th-ranked Northern Kentucky in a noon game at Korte Stadium.
