SIUE Golf Honored For Academic Success

Complete Release from the GCAA

NORMAN, Okla. – For the ninth consecutive year, SIUE golf has earned recognition as an All-Academic Team as awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

SIUE is one of only two Ohio Valley Conference programs to be honored. Belmont also earned honors from the GCAA. SIUE golf is among 120 NCAA Division I programs recognized.

"To have earned the GCAA Team Academic Achievement Award for nine straight years is something to be very proud of," SIUE head coach Derrick Brown said. "Our guys work hard in the classroom and deserve to be recognized."

Programs must have achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average to be considered for the award by the GCAA. The Cougars achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.36 for the 2018-19 school year.

On the course, SIUE earned two team titles during the 2018-19 season and finished with the second-lowest scoring average (290.3) in the OVC.

"I am proud of the success this team had on and off the golf course," Brown added.
